NIH grant R01AI110964: Understanding the Risk of Bat Coronavirus Emergence. EcoHealth Alliance, with a subaward to the Wuhan Institute of Virology.
The National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases funded this grant to EcoHealth Alliance beginning in 2014. Part of the money went to the Wuhan Institute of Virology to collect and study bat coronaviruses.
On October 20, 2021, the NIH told Congress that an experiment under this grant produced a modified bat coronavirus that grew more in infected mice, and that EcoHealth had failed to report the result as required.
